Although the term "thumbnail" is known and commonly used among the majority of tech savvy internet users, there is still a significant portion of people who are unfamiliar with it. In the world of social media, and by our definition, thumbnails are reduced size versions of pictures used to help viewers recognize the original creator of published content. They often link back to the creator's profile or enlarge the image to its original size.
